The Vladimir region is located in the centre of the European part of Russia, in the south of the Volga-Oka interfluve. It is part of the Central Federal District and borders the Moscow, Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Ryazan and Nizhny Novgorod regions.

Area – the 66th place among the subjects of the Russian Federation.
Population – the 34th place among the subjects of the Russian Federation.
