Leningrad oblast is located in the north-western part of European Russia. It is part of the Northwestern Federal District. It is bordered by Vologda oblast, Novgorod oblast, Pskov oblast, the Republic of Karelia, Estonia and Finland.

Administrative center – Saint-Petersburg.
Area – the 39st place among the subjects of the Russian Federation.
Population – the 27th place among the subjects of the Russian Federation.
