The Republic of Adygea is surrounded all around by Krasnodar Krai. The north part of the Republic is a plain, the south part is a foothill and mountains of Greater Caucasus. It is part of the Southern Federal District.

Administrative center – Maykop.
Area – the 81st place among the subjects of the Russian Federation.
Population – the 77th place among the subjects of the Russian Federation.
