Yaroslavl oblast is located in northern European Russia, at the center of the East European Plain. It is part of the Central Federal District. It is bordered by Vladimir oblast, Vologda oblast, Ivanovo oblast, Kostroma oblast, Moscow oblast and Tver oblast.
